Visual Diary 1 | August 2021
I’ve realized recently that I have no words left in me. At least for the time being. I estimate it will be November time when the words return to my brain. You may be thinking, “but Emily, you’ve typed 37 words in this blog post already! You’re off to a great start”. Thank you. That is much appreciated. But what I’m referring to is my capacity to share any words that hold weight. I’m not eager to share any opinions on the current state of affairs in the conservative town I live in, nor the wildfires burning around us. I simply don’t have the breath for it anymore. It’s exhausting. What I can do is try and speak to you in visuals. I recently felt compelled to get fully dressed and done up (on a Sunday) to pose by myself in my dark basement apartment simply for the pleasure that comes with creating something. It sparked something in me. Communicating through visuals feels so much more approachable right now. It feels more honest, more creative, and somehow fully removed from the word figuratively and literally burning around me. So here you go, the first of what I imagine will be many visual diaries to come.
Things I’ve come to realize so far in 2021
Pink goes with everything
Patience is easier when you stop caring and start enjoying yourself
Everything works when it’s monochrome (home design, outfits, makeup, etc)
Most people kinda suck (don’t come for me, it’s just one of those days)
My love for Christopher Kane is the real deal, hence, the coasters
The use of flash is almost always cool, as is the colour orange, and anything designed by Bottega Veneta
I’m just a girl in love with her cloud-like, 1980s table lamps
Boiler Suit - L.F. Markey
Bag - Cambridge Satchel Company
Coasters - Christopher Kane
Sofa - Rove Concepts
Everything Else - Vintage
Thanks for Reading,
Emily
